Ecological Civilization: A New Development Paradigm

Abstract:  Against the background of increasing depletion of natural resources and environmental pollution as a result of economic development guided by industrial civilization, the concept of ecological civilization as a new development paradigm has emerged and attracted the attention of policymakers and academic researchers. By examining the origin of ecological civilization, this paper elaborates on the connotations and orientations of ecological civilization and notes that ecological civilization is not a negation of industrial civilization but represents an upgrade and improvement of industrial civilization. The  paper also provides policy recommendations on the development of ecological civilization.
