The achievements of China’s economic growth haven’t yet facilitated poverty reduction to the extent anticipated. China continues to have a large poor population and a relatively high rate of poverty recurrence. In this article Guo Jinguang assesses China’s current poverty situation in light of risks and vulnerabilities, and provides some policy suggestions to more effectively tackle the poverty problem.
