What China and India can learn from each other in the information industry

Abstract: With its strategic importance, the information industry has become a focus of competition for various countries around the world. China and India differ in terms of information resources, infrastructure, industrial size and technical competitiveness. But the two countries are both emerging powers with rapid economic growth and industrial upgrading, and both benefit from information technologies and informationrelated industries. That the countries have both important similarities as well as differences offers a unique opportunity to observe the lessons learned so far in each case. This article, by focusing on the information industry, hopes to uncover economic information with both theoretical and practical relevance.
