In recent years, many scholars have the opinion that China’s rapid economic growth has failed to engender corresponding employment growth, and are thus doubtful of the national welfare gained from China’s economic growth. Concurrently, labour recruitment difficulties have been encountered in many localities, with labour wages on the rise. This paper makes an in-depth analysis of this seemingly contradictory phenomenon.
