China’s top 500 enterprises grow in size, revenue but decline in net profit in 2009

Abstract:
Based on the annual data of Top 500 Chinese Enterprises, Top 500 Chinese Manufacturers and the Top 500 Chinese Service Enterprises published by China Enterprise Confederation and China Enterprise Directors Association, this paper presents the latest trends, characteristics and problems of China’s big enterprises. The authors found that those enterprises maintained rapid and steady growth in 2009. Meanwhile, the ratio of China’s big enterprises in the Fortune 500 in terms of company quantity, total assets and total profits was significantly enhanced.
