Li Peng, Wang Yubin and Tan Xiangyong
Abstract:
This paper introduces the concept of food security by explaining the concept of grain security, anddefines the index of the ability to have a surplus supply (ASS) as an appraisal and analysis of the foodsecurity situation in China today. Conclusions: Food security in present-day China is at a relatively high level, and the grain shortage is caused not by the shortage of food grain, but rather by the shortageof fodder grain due to the escalating consumption demand for indirect food grain and a drop in grainproduction during recent years. Based on these conclusions, this paper gives its opinions on the issues ofChina’s grain security and food security, and suggests policies to deal with these issues.
