In recent years, China’s rise and its implications for East Asia have drawn wide attention.
As a manufacturing giant, China’s emergence will transform the landscape of East Asia. With the approach
of intra-product specialization and taking a deep look at trade figures, this paper reviews China’s journey of
integrating into the East Asian production network and its changing status, as well as what it means for the region
to have the rising player of China.
